VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – A benefit motorcycle ride held over the weekend in Virginia Beach raised money for the family of fallen Norfolk police officer Brian Jones.

The Police Emerald Society sponsored the event on Saturday.

The benefit ride started at Sunrise Cycles in Norfolk, with an after-party at A.J Gators on Witchduck Road.

“I do it because as a brother of law enforcement officer I would hope that the public would stand up and do that same thing for the loss of a brother, for myself or any other officer and for their family and children,” said Daniel Mitchell, event organizer.

Organizers raffled off prizes and collected donations. They said all the money raised will go to Officer Jones’s wife and children.
