VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The Virginia Beach boardwalk became a canvas of color over the weekend. About 200 artists took over the boardwalk between 15th and 17th streets for this year’s Chalk the Walk.
Each artist drew a four-by-four foot chalk drawing. They were competing for prizes awarded for the top drawings in three categories.
“At first I wasn’t sure what I was going to draw and then I thought, ‘oh I’ll draw Mikey because he is adorable, everybody loves him, and he is the easiest one to draw for me.’ And then I thought, ‘oh since we’re going to be at the beach, why not draw him at the beach,’” said chalk artist Michelle Singler.
The theme this year was “Superhero Superstars.”
