OUTER BANKS, N.C. (WAVY) — Crews will be out along N.C. 12 in Dare County next week, continuing repairs after Hurricane Arthur.

Crews with the North Carolina Department of Transportation will close one lane of the Bonner Bridge during daylight hours, Monday through Thursday. During the closures they will take samples to continue monitoring the bridge.

Crews will also begin rebuilding sand dunes along N.C. 12 between the south ferry dock and the Pony Pens on Ocracoke Island. Large amounts of marsh grass that collected on the road during the storm surge will also be removed.

On the Northern end of Pea Island, two lanes of traffic are open at the temporary bridge. A detour is being built while a new permanent bridge is under construction, and that detour will likely open in the next couple weeks.
