Hampton council members take oath of office

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — On Wednesday, a judge swore in Hampton City Council members, during an Oath of Office Ceremony.

The ceremony took place around 12 p.m. in Council Chambers on the 8th floor of City Hall. Reverend Dr. Richard Wills Sr. gave the invocation and Hampton Circuit Court clerk administered the oaths of office.

During the ceremony, Linda Curtis was elected and appointed as Vice Mayor, Mayor George Wallace was sworn in, councilmen Donnie Tuck and Will Moffett began new terms, and Councilwoman Teresa Vanasse Schmidt joined Council for her first term.

Following the ceremony, City Council held their first work session at 2 p.m., which is scheduled to be followed by a City Council meeting at 7 p.m.
