Man gets six years on child sex crime convictions

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A former firefighter previously sentenced for sex crimes involving children in Virginia Beach pleaded guilty in Suffolk Monday.

Court officials in Suffolk told WAVY News Robert Gallup pled guilty to two counts forcible sodomy, two counts indecent liberties with a child and two counts aggravated sexual battery. The charges stemmed from incidents between 2001 and 2003.

He was sentenced to 50 years each on the sodomy charges, 20 years each on the indecent liberties charges and five years each on the sexual battery charges. Most of the jail time was suspended and he will serve six years. He also will undergo supervised probation for life.
He already was serving a nearly 17-year sentence for similar charges in Virginia Beach.
