WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WAVY) – A 20-year-old man is facing serious charges after officers say he was drunk in public and assaulted an officer.
Maj. Greg Riley with the Williamsburg Police Department said officers found a group of four people walking westbound in the 900 block of Richmond Road around 1:20 a.m. Saturday. One of them, identified as Cameron Ryan Nirmaier of James City County, was staggering badly.
Officers approached the group and determined Nirmaier was intoxicated, Riley said. As they tried to take him into custody, police say Nirmaier pulled his arm away and pushed the officer.
Nirmaier was arrested and charged with assault and battery of an officer, resisting arrest, underage possession of alcohol and drunk in public.
