NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Two brothers are facing charges after a man was stabbed Sunday evening.
Sgt. Randal Bailey with the Newport News Police Department told WAVY.com the victim has stab wounds to his hand, ribs and neck. He told police he got into an argument with Roger and Rodney Boyke in the 300 block of Blair Avenue.
According to the victim, Roger Boyke held him down and choked him as Rodney Boyke stabbed him.
WAVY.com spoke to the 19 year-old victim Monday afternoon. He didn’t want to be identified, but told WAVY News’ Liz Palka his injuries could have been worse had he not fought the brothers off.
The victim’s mother said her family and the suspects live in one house that’s divided into two separate units. The Boykes live downstairs, while she and her family live upstairs. The mother said she had previously had a disagreement with the family over monthly utility payments.
The victim said he was sitting in his lawn chair on the porch Sunday evening. He said the Boykes came home and demanded he get out of the chair and off the porch. When he refused, he said the brothers grabbed him from behind.
The victim’s stab wounds were not serious enough for him to have to go to the hospital.
Roger Boyke was charged with strangulation and conspiracy to commit a felony, while Rodney Boyke was charged with malicious wounding, stab in the commission of a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony.
WAVY.com did speak with the Boykes’ mother. She is also the landlord of the house both her sons and the victim lives in. She said she did not have a comment because she wasn’t there during the incident.
