SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A 5-year-old boy was pulled from a swimming pool in Suffolk Monday afternoon.

Officers responded to a call of an unresponsive child in the 2600 block of Longstreet Lane in Holland around 2:40 p.m. While they were en route, police dispatchers gave the child’s mother CPR instructions over the phone and she got the child breathing again on his own by the time rescue units arrived, according to police spokesperson Diana Klink.

An air ambulance was called to take the child to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The boy’s injuries are said to be non-life threatening. A neighbor told WAVY.com the child appeared to be acting normal and responsive.

The incident remains under investigation.
