NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Ivan DeJesus Jr. will represent the Tides at this months AAA all-star game in Durham, NC.
The 27-year-old shortstop is batting over .300 and earlier in the season he reached base in 27-straight games.
DeJesus is baseball lifer, he has 48 big league games under his belt with the Red Sox and Dodgers and his father, Ivan DeJesus Sr. played 15 years in the major leauges.
Junior said growing up in a professional environment helped him become the player he is today.
“My first year of pro ball, I felt at home,” DeJesus said. “I was not scared, I was not like a lot of players were when they first got here. I felt like I had been here already and I knew how to handle myself.”
The AAA all-star game is Wednesday, July 16 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
