Three injured in crash with Suffolk dump truck

SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — Emergency crews in Suffolk responded to a two-vehicle crash along Route 17 Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened in the 1800 block of Bridge Road (Route 17) around 2:15 p.m. According to Tim Kelley with Suffolk police, a passenger vehicle and Suffolk City dump truck collided, and both ran off the roadway and overturned.

One person in the passenger vehicle and two people in the dump truck all reported minor injuries and were taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center.

Initially the roadway was closed completely. Now, Kelley said just one of the northbound lanes of Bridge Road will be closed for several hours until tow trucks can remove the vehicles.
