CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) – A teen’s body was recovered Monday, two days after swimmers had issues at the Old Tides Inn area.
Sheriff Susan Johnson with the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office said crews were called out to the area around 4 p.m. Saturday after several people had trouble in the water. Bystanders were able to reach two of the swimmers, but were unable to reach a third.
The swimmer, identified as Thomas Harman, 16, of Fuquay Varina, N.C., was not found until 10:15 a.m. Monday when his body was recovered about a mile and a half from the original site.
