Propane leak closes portion of Victory Blvd. in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A propane leak at Lindab Inc.on Airline Boulevard closed a portion of Victory Boulevard between Airline and Portsmouth boulevards Saturday morning.

According to a fire department spokesman, workers were filling a forklift with propane from a 35 gallon tank when the tank began leaking. The workers used the emergency cut-off switch to try and stopped the leak, but were unsuccessful.

Portsmouth fire crews responded to the scene and blocked off Victory Boulevard. Crews monitored the atmospheric levels of the gas but no evacuations were necessary.

According to the company’s website, Lindab an international group that develops, manufactures, markets and distributes products and system solutions for simplified construction and improved indoor climate.
