Video captures man hitting parked cars in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – Chesapeake Police say a man went on a rampage and slammed into several parked vehicles after he got into an altercation over the weekend.

Det. D.M. Boykin with the Chesapeake Police Department told WAVY.com the incident occurred Sunday evening around 7:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of Lakeview Drive. Police say Shalomo Israel got into an altercation with another person and then got into his vehicle.

Then Israel is accused of driving into a garage door, six parked vehicles, the porch that the person he got into an altercation with was on, through a yard and into a mailbox. The other person suffered a minor injury to the leg.

10 On You Side spoke with the woman who had damage done to her garage door. She did not want to be identified.

“By the time I got out to the porch, he had gone around the curve. He drove across the grass, hit the young man in the yard he had the altercation with and then backed into his porch,” she said.

The next thing she knew, Israel was headed her way.

“I figured he was coming in the yard. I started running. I ran between the cars right there and between the two houses, hopefully he would not hit me, but he got caught on that mailbox right there,” she said.

The whole ordeal was captured on video and posted to worldstarhiphop.com. The two-minute video shows the car hitting several parked vehicles before coming to a rest.

The woman said that’s when neighbors gathered outside.

“Some of the men were standing out there so the police wouldn’t shoot him, because he was acting so irrationally when he got out of the car, and what happened, I understand he was ex-military and had not had his medication,” she said.

She is now dealing with insurance companies to get her garage door repaired while Israel remains in prison. He is set to face a judge on Monday, charged with malicious wounding and six counts of unlawful damage.
