VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office is taking a stand against impaired drivers.
They hosted a public safety night at Mount Trashmore Friday, and 10 On Your Side co-sponsored the event.
Meteorologist Tiffany Savona was there highlighting our W82TXT campaign to keep drivers from texting and driving. It’s all about keeping people safe on the roads.
“10 percent of all the DUIs that occur in the Commonwealth of Virginia happen right here in Virginia Beach,” said Commonwealth’s Attorney Stolle. “It’s a problem that we need to come together as a community to do something about.”
Beginning Monday, the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office will prosecute all DUI charges in Virginia Beach. In the past, the arresting officer usually handled first offense DUI cases.
