VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A natural gas leak caused traffic delays on a busy Virginia Beach road for several hours Thursday.

Around 11 a.m., Virginia Beach dispatchers received a report of a natural gas leak in the 1200 block of Laskin Road, Battalion Chief Amy Valdez with Virginia Beach Fire Department said.

Virginia Natural Gas responded to the scene and thought they had located the leak, but later determined they needed to dig in another area to find the leak, possibly in the larger eight-inch line on Laskin.

While Virginia Natural Gas brought in bigger digging equipment, workers doing landscaping in the area were asked to move and one westbound lane of Laskin Road was closed.

About five hours later, all lanes of Laskin Road were reopened.
