Men unsuccessful in Wal-Mart shoplifting

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police need help identifying two men who tried to steal items from a Wal-Mart in Newport News Monday.

Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department said the incident happened between 10 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at the Wal-Mart located at 6111 Jefferson Ave.

Two male suspects in their mid to late 20s entered the store and worked as a team to conceal food, clothing and trash bags. One would take items off the shelf while the other would put the merchandise in Wal-Mart bags.

The pair was confronted by an asset protection officer who tried to stop them. The suspects took off on foot, leaving the goods behind.
