DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Dare County investigators have made an arrest in a residential breaking and entering case from the weekend.

On Sunday, a resident in the Baum Bay subdivision reported several items had been stolen from a home, according to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators conducted interviews and developed a suspect, who happened to be in the Dare County Detention Center on unrelated charges.

“After interviewing the suspect, some of the stolen items were recovered and returned to the victim, and the suspect was subsequently charged,” Hoggard said.

Jacob Michael Knieper, 23, of Colington was charged with breaking and entering and larceny after breaking and entering. He remained in the detention center in lieu of an $8,000 bond.
