Motorcyclist airlifted in hit-and-run

GLOUCESTER, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia State Police agents are investigating a hit-and-run crash in Mathews County late Saturday evening.

Around 10:30 p.m., a motorcyclist was traveling east on Route 198 (Buckley Hall Road) when a pickup truck traveling west turned left onto Route 3 (Windsor Road). The truck crossed into the path of the motorcycle and the two vehicles collided, according to Sergeant Michelle Anaya with Virginia State Police.

The impact caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from the vehicle. The motorcyclist was air lifted to Riverside Regional Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, Anaya said.

The driver of the truck continued traveling on Route 3 into Gloucester. The suspect vehicle was described as a light silver or white pickup truck.

The crash is still under investigation. No further information has been released.
