VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – More birds were found with blow darts in Hampton Roads over the weekend, bringing the total to more than a dozen.
Barbara Gipson with the Virginia Beach SPCA told WAVY.com five more sightings were reported over the weekend. One in Chesapeake was able to be captured by an Animal Control officer. The bird was taken to a veterinarian and the dart was removed.
Gipson said the total is now at 16 birds that have either been spotted or caught with the darts. Right now, officials do have leads in the case and PETA is offering a $5,000 reward for information that can lead to an arrest.
