FORT EUSTIS, Va. (WAVY) — People who live in the Fort Eustis area may notice some unusual activity on base Thursday — but don’t be alarmed. Officials say the post will be holding a crisis management exercise.
The base-wide exercise will include simulated munitions and casualties, sirens, announcements from the base’s PA system and first responders and law enforcement agencies from the surrounding areas, according to Joint Base Langley-Eustis spokeswoman, Sameria Zavala.
The goal is to help those who operate the post know its mass casualty plans and be prepared for a real crisis.
Zavala said there will also be an increase to the installation’s security, so people working at or visiting Fort Eustis on Thursday should expect traffic delays, especially at Gate 2.
