Pro-Am tournament brings big names back to Hampton Roads

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – With the NBA season now over, anyone still looking for some high-quality basketball might want to check out Maury High School in Norfolk. That’s where the 7 Cities Pro-Am tipped off its tenth season on Saturday afternoon.

The tournament, which runs through the beginning of August, features both professional and college players who have roots in Hampton Roads. A couple of names who earned MVP of the event include Mike Scott (Chesapeake), who went on to the University of Virginia and is now with the Atlanta Hawks, as well as Kent Bazemore, who played at Old Dominion University and is now with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Along with current and former Old Dominion, Norfolk State and Hampton players, this year will also feature Davante Gardner, who earned Most Valuable Player of the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament.
