Two North Carolina women killed in Greensville Co. crash

GREENSVILLE COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) – Two North Carolina women died early Saturday morning when their car crashed into a tractor-trailer.

It happened a little before 1:30 a.m. in Greensville County, just south of Emporia.

Sgt. Michelle Anaya with Virginia State Police said six people were in a car that ran through a stop sign on Moore’s Ferry Road. They crashed into a tractor-trailer on Skippers Road, which is Highway 301.

Two women, identified as Shasta Edwards and Anna Buchanan, died. The other four people were taken to Southside Regional Hospital in Emporia. Anaya said the driver of the vehicle suffered life-threatening injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.

State Police said alcohol was a factor and none of the people in the car were wearing seat belts. Charges are currently pending.
