Unmanned boat found in Rappahannock River

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – Local Coast Guard crews are searching for a possible missing boater after a small unmanned boat was found.

According to the Coast Guard, a Good Samaritan contacted watchstanders around 9:45 a.m. Thursday after the 10-foot boat was found in the Rappahannock River near Totuskey Creek. A fishing pole was found aboard.

The boat has a Virginia registration number and the name “Quachica” on it. Crews from Coast Guard Station Milford Haven as well as an air crew from Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City and Naval Station Norfolk were dispatched to help locate the boat’s potential occupant.
