ACCESS Foundation awards scholarships to local students

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — ACCESS College Foundation held its annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon in the Virginia Beach Convention Center on Friday.

167 scholars were awarded $5,000 scholarships, payable over four years, to use at technical schools, community colleges and four-year institutions. Virginian-Pilot and Pilot Media President, David Mele was the keynote speaker.

ACCESS College Foundation was founded in 1988 by local philanthropists Frank Batten and Joshua P. Darden, Jr. as a vehicle to provide students, who may not have the opportunity, the path to attend and complete college.
