SUFFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man was taken to the hospital Thursday after driving off the road and into a ditch in Suffolk.
Diana Klink with the City of Suffolk said crews were called to Godwin Boulevard and Harrell Drive around 3:35 p.m.
Following a preliminary investigation, police determined a 58-year-old man was driving west on Godwin Boulevard when he went off the roadway and crashed into a ditch.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue crews extricated him from his vehicle, and he was taken to Sentara Obici Hospital. Klink said the driver was later airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with what were believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
Klink said the road was briefly closed. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
