Woman says man attacked her with chemicals

YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) – A woman who was in a Yorktown shopping center told investigators a man attacked her with a chemical that burned her leg.

According to the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office, around midnight Tuesday, a man in the parking lot of the McDonald’s on Route 17 threw liquid on a woman that caused chemical burns to her leg. The victim said that earlier that night she was shopping at the nearby Wal-Mart when she believes the same man asked her out to dinner and she told him she was married.

10 On Your Side talked to the victim’s friend, who asked not to be identified. She said the victim went to Riverside Hospital.

“She was admitted overnight, released the next day. Her leg turned black,” she said.

The victim went to a doctor, who told her to go to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, the friend said.

“She goes in for surgery, and they’re basically going to scrape all the skin and the muscle and tissue down to the bone and they’re going to see if the bone is deteriorated,” the friend said. “She is very distraught because we won’t know until tomorrow what her leg is going to be like.”

Investigators plan to review surveillance video from the Wal-Mart and nearby businesses. The victim told deputies she believes the suspect was driving an older model white Oldsmobile Cutlass.
