Suspicious package rendered safe in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Norfolk officers closed two roads as they investigated a suspicious package on West Princess Anne Road Wednesday.

Officer Daniel Hudson with the Norfolk Police Department said officers received a call for a suspicious package in the 200 block of West Princess Anne Road around 10 a.m. Upon arrival, they located the package.

Battalion Chief Julian Williamson with Norfolk Fire and Rescue said the package was described as a suitcase. Homes in the area were evacuated as a result.

Around noon, Williamson said the package was cleared and found to be a suitcase with clothes.

At this time the 800 to 1400 block of Llewellyn Avenue and the 200 to 300 block of West Princess Anne Road remain closed.
