HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) — The Hampton Police Division needs the public’s help locating the man suspected of assaulting an officer Sunday morning.
Around 2:15 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Emancipation Drive and Tyler Street for a report of shots fired. Near there, at the intersection of Pembroke Avenue and Eaton Street, an officer noticed a parked vehicle and smelled what was believed to be marijuana coming from it.
The officer tried to make contact with the two occupants of the vehicle, but as they were speaking, both occupants became uncooperative and fled. Police say the driver hit the officer in the upper body and was last seen running in the 100 block of Poplar Avenue.
The passenger, 26-year-old Larry Lashaw Bolden, was apprehended and charged with obstruction of justice.
Anyone with information about the identity or location of the driver is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
