NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man was found guilty of murder and other felony charges Friday in connection with a deadly shooting in 2012.

Amanda Howie with the Office of the Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney said 24-year-old Michael Cordell Gray was convicted by a jury of nine felony charges: one count of first degree murder, two counts of robbery, two counts of conspiracy, and four counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

The charges stem from a shooting in July 2012 that killed Douglas K. Jones.

The jury recommended Gray be sentenced to 53 years in prison. He will be sentenced by a judge at a later date.

Howie said four other people were charged in the incident.
