NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – Local law enforcement officers don’t want the community to forget Officer Brian Jones, the Norfolk police officer killed in the line of duty last month.
Saturday, the Fraternal Order of Police hosted a fundraiser. Guad’s restaurant in Norfolk donated part of the day’s profits to the Jones family. A raffle and silent auction also helped raise money for the family.
“Public safety, we’re one big family, and we all take care of each other and look after one another … To go from a dual-income family overnight to a single-income family, it makes a huge impact. And we’re there to hopefully help ease that burden,” said Keith Winingear, with the Fraternal Order of Police.
Jones had a wife and three young children.
