VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – Detectives have apprehended the suspect who was able to get away with oxycodone in a robbery at a Virginia Beach pharmacy Friday morning.
Matthew Nicholas Anderson, 25, of Virginia Beach, has been charged with robbery, abduction, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and wearing a mask in public.
MPO Tonya Borman with the Virginia Beach Police Department said the robbery happened around 4 a.m. at the Walgreens located at 3965 Holland Rd. An employee said a suspect with a long gun, grabbed the clerk and demanded the drugs while forcing the clerk toward the pharmacy, where the pharmacist complied.
The suspect was described as an Asian male standing 5’5” to 6’ with a medium build. He was wearing a motorcycle helmet and dark jacket at the time of the robbery. Police said the suspect was developed quickly in the case.
Anderson is being held in the Virginia Beach City Jail without bond.
