Detective Misty Holley with the Portsmouth Police Department told several suspects entered the business and demanded money. An employee of the business complied with the demands and the suspects left the location with an undisclosed amount of money from the business and the victim’s wallet. As the suspects ran from the business, the victim came outside and one of the suspects fired several rounds of bullets towards him, striking him in the stomach.

Medics transported the victim to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects fled the location in a gray or silver Dodge minivan with a Redskins sticker in the window, in an unknown direction of travel. There is no further suspect or vehicle description at this time.

“I actually was on my back deck last night. I saw police cars and I had no idea what was going on whatsoever. Now I found out somebody actually got shot. That’s actually scary. Right down the street from my house. That’s pretty scary,” said Jim Miller, a neighbor. “It’s normally a quiet neighborhood. This is a peaceful neighborhood so to hear something like that is pretty scary. I’ve got small kids.”
