Man charged in power equipment vandalism investigation

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A man is facing multiple charges in connection with vandalism and damage to power equipment in Norfolk.

According to a news release from the Norfolk Police Department, 52-year-old Raymond David Whited, Jr. was arrested Tuesday. Whited was arrested in connection to theft and damage/vandalism at Dominion Virginia Power Substations.

He was taken into custody without incident, and faces the following charges:

  • 3 counts – Damage or Trespass on Public Utility
  • 2 counts – Larceny or Theft – 3rd or Subsequence Offense
  • 1 count – Grand Larceny
  • 1 count – Larceny with Intent to Sell or Distribute

Whited is being held at Norfolk City Jail without bond.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
