DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — The Dare County Narcotics Task Force discovered a marijuana grow operation while executing a search warrant last month.

Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office said the search warrant was executed on May 30 at a residence in Salvo. Task force members found growing marijuana plants and other items associated with a marijuana grow operation.

A subsequent arrest was made for 40-year-old David James Tolbert for the manufacture of marijuana and possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana. He was released on a $5,000 bond, Hoggard said.

The Dare County Narcotics Task Force consists of officers from the sheriff’s office, the Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills and Kitty Hawk police departments, the NC State Bureau of Investigation and the NC Alcohol Law Enforcement Division.
