More charges in Hatteras Island break-ins

DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Investigators have charged a man with 38 offenses in the investigation of a series of break-ins on Hatteras Island last year.

Richard William Taylor, 21, of Frisco was arrested on June 6 for breaking and entering and larceny cases that happened in August and September of 2013, according to Chief Deputy Steve Hoggard with the Dare County Sheriff’s Office. He was charged with 25 counts of breaking and entering an automobile, 12 counts of larceny after breaking and entering, and one count of larceny.

Investigators have been working on the break-ins for months, already making some arrests.

Taylor is being held on a $100,000 bond.
