NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) – Police are investigating a disturbing discovery in Newport News.
Around 2:15 p.m., police received a call to check on the welfare of a person lying in the grass at 29th Street and Warwick Boulevard Tuesday afternoon. When officers arrived, they found a man’s body in the grassy area under an overpass, police spokesman Lou Thurston confirmed to WAVY.com.
Officers believe the man is homeless. Witnesses said they saw him alive earlier in the day. He is known to sit regularly in the area he was found.
Harold Eley with Newport News Police said there are no signs of foul play, however, the body will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
