HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – A Sunday morning house fire in Hampton has been ruled accidental.
Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Chesterfield Road just before 10 a.m. They arrived to find a person attempting to put out a porch fire using a garden hose.
The porch and exterior siding were damaged, but crews kept the fire from entering the home.
Investigators could not determine the exact cause, but found several household chemicals stored together where the fire began, according to Captain Jeffrey Pereira.
There were no reported injuries.
