Navy receives bomb threat for USS Maryland

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A bomb threat was at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth Friday morning.

Jeff Cunningham with Norfolk Naval Shipyard told WAVY.com the threat was found in the shipyard’s industrial area around 7:40 a.m. The threat was about a bomb being placed on USS Maryland.

All personnel on the Maryland and in the vicinity of the drydock were evacuated as a precaution.

No explosive devices were found after a search.
