NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Two police departments in Hampton Roads are looking for a man they say is armed and dangerous.

Kwaume Edwards, 25, is wanted by the Hampton Police Division for homicide, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon. He’s also wanted in Newport News for brandishing a firearm, assault, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The Newport News charges are related to an incident on May 3 near the intersection of Michael Irvin Drive and Woodhaven Road, according to Lou Thurston with the Newport News Police Department.

Around 2:15 p.m., a 26-year-old man told police a red Dodge Charger passed his car and stopped suddenly, blocking his car. Two men got out, approached his car, and one brandished a handgun in his direction. The victim put his car in reverse and fled the area.

Thurston said the man who brandished the firearm has been identified as Edwards, who is known to frequent Ivy Avenue and Aqua Vista Drive.

Edwards is considered armed and dangerous.
