NN police seek home invasion suspect

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Newport News police need the public’s help finding a suspect in a home invasion investigation.

The crime happened on May 27 just before 10 p.m. in the 300 block of Hickory Point Boulevard. According to police, a man who claimed to be a police officer ordered a 23-year-old woman to come out of her apartment bedroom with her hands up. She told police she ran back upstairs, grabbed her 5-year-old son, and ran into her housemate’s room. Both women and the child left through a window and had a neighbor call police.

Police say the suspect is six feet tall with a medium complexion and skinny build, and possibly in his 20’s. He was wearing a black ski mask, black long-sleeve shirt and blue jeans. Police say he was holding a black semi-automatic handgun.
