VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The next time anyone in Hampton Roads watches a NASCAR Sprint Cup race, keep an eye on the 40 car.
Jimmy Rogers, owner of Newtown Building Supplies in Virginia Beach, announced on Thursday he has teamed up with Chesapeake businessman and team co-owner Joe Falk and now sponsors a car on the Sprint Cup Circuit.
The driver is 24-year-old Landon Cassill, who won the 2008 Nationwide Rookie of the Year award. Cassill was also a test car driver for Jimmie Johnson, and won four Sprint Cup championship rings with the 48 team and Hendrick Motor Sports.
Cassill has shown tremendous potential, finishing 11th at Talladega and 12th at the Daytona 500. He and the team are in Pocono Raceway this weekend.
