Police pull over suspects after shoplifting reports

traffic stop

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake police say one traffic stop on the side of a busy interstate Wednesday afternoon wasn’t for traffic violations.

Around 2:40 p.m., officers responded to the area around Greenbrier Mall after a report of people shoplifting clothes from the Macy’s department store there, according to Kelly O’Sullivan with the Chesapeake Police Department.

The suspect vehicle was spotted on Interstate 64 West near Indian River Road. Officers conducted a traffic stop. There were three to four people inside.

O’Sullivan said the department is looking into the vehicle because the tags matched a report of a stolen vehicle in Norfolk.
