Work truck catches fire in Norfolk

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A traffic control truck burst into flames in Norfolk Tuesday morning.

WAVY News’ crews happened upon the scene in the 7500 block of Sewells Point Road before firefighters even arrived on scene. There, they found an orange pickup truck with its front end engulfed in flames.

Battalion Chief Julian Williamson with Norfolk Fire and Rescue told WAVY.com the call came in around 8:15 a.m. for a truck fire. Crews were on scene minutes later.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire. The truck was parked at the time, Williamson said.

The sign on the truck says “Richmond Traffic Control.” The company’s website says it services both the central and Tidewater metro areas of Virginia with work zone traffic control and is located at 7505 Sewells Point Rd.
