NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – USS Ross left Norfolk Tuesday for a deployment.
The guided-missile destroyer will make a stop in Yorktown before moving on to its final destination of Rota, Spain. It’s the second of four Arleigh-Burke-class guided-missile destroyers to head to Rota.
The Navy calls the deployment a ‘homeport shift.’
The vessel is named after Donald Kirby Ross who enlisted in the military in 1929 and was presented the Medal of Honor in 1942.
