NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Detectives are trying to identify two people suspected of shoplifting at a beauty store in the Jefferson Commons shopping center last month.

On May 18, a Hispanic woman in her late 20’s and a Hispanic man with short hair went inside the ULTA on Jefferson Avenue, according to Harold Eley with the Newport News Police Department.

Store employees saw the woman put several fragrances, valued at more than $500, into a large tote bag she was carrying. When she was approached by loss prevention, the suspect fled the store, heading south toward the TJMaxx store.

The suspect was accompanied outside by the man. Responding police units were unable to locate either suspects.

Eley said the same suspects repeated the same illegal activity at the ULTA store in Midlothian in the Richmond area on May 23. Surveillance photos from that incident are displayed above.

Anyone who can identify the suspects is asked to call Detective M. S. Wirtes, North Precinct Investigations, at 757-369-3105 or Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
