YORKTOWN, Va. (WAVY) — Deputies banned a 51-year-old man from Yorktown Beach this week after complaints of him taking pictures of young girls in bathing suits.

The York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said deputies received complaints, some from juvenile girls, and spoke to the man, who denied taking pictures and said he was at the beach with his wife and daughter.

Then deputies received more complaints. A different deputy approached the man and he tried to hide his camera and denied taking any pictures. He also denied making any statement about being at the beach with a wife or daughter.

The man was within his rights when he denied deputies their request to view his photos. After that, he was ordered to leave the beach, which he did.

The sheriff’s office said it had received similar complaints about the same man in 2012 and 2013. He was mailed a certified letter, banning him from County Property at the Yorktown Waterfront, including the beach.
