NAGS HEAD, N.C. (WAVY) – Swimming is not allowed in the Town of Nags Head Tuesday.

“No Swimming” red flags are up along the beach, warning swimmers to stay out of the ocean due to dangerous surf conditions.

“This order is issued as a result of hazardous surf and rip current conditions which exist in the ocean waters and post a danger to all swimmers,” the Town said on social media. The flags will remain in place as long as the conditions exist.

In case of any water-related emergencies, dial 911.
