Police identify man killed in Hampton crash

HAMPTON, VA. (WAVY) – A car crash on North Mallory Street in Hampton left one person dead Saturday night.

Police responded to the 1100 block of North Mallory Street around 11 p.m. after receiving several calls about a car crash. Officers arrived on the scene and found a 1998 Ford Mustang that had struck a tree and one male victim deceased.

The victim has been identified as 31-year-old Thomas Solon Edge IV of Hampton.

According to Hampton Police, the preliminary investigation indicated the car was traveling northbound on North Mallory when it struck the tree.

The cause of the crash is under investigation and it is believed that speed was a factor.
