Shots fired in Sonic parking lot

HAMPTON, Va. (WAVY) – Hampton Police are looking for a 20-year-old man in connection to a shooting Thursday night.

The shooting happened around 8 p.m. in the parking lot of the Sonic in the 2000 block of West Mercury Boulevard. Officers learned the suspect got into a verbal altercation with an employee, after which the suspect pulled out a gun and fired several shots.

No one was hurt, but the business was struck several times.

Sgt. Jason Price said the suspect fled the scene in a gold four-door sedan and was last seen traveling toward Pine Chapel Road. He has been identified as Victor Collin Sims, Jr. of Newport News.

Sims is currently wanted on charges of shooting into an occupied building, attempted maiming and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
