NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) — Police say a woman may be fighting for her life after being hit by a vehicle in Newport News Friday evening.
Around 9:45 p.m., Newport News police learned of an auto-pedestrian crash on Jefferson Avenue near Sam Walton Way, according to spokeswoman Holley McPherson.
Officers arrived to find a 43-year-old Newport News woman with life-threatening injures. She was transported to a local hospital.
A preliminary investigation indicates a 16-year-old male was driving south on Jefferson Ave. in a 4-door black Mazda when the pedestrian ran across the street and was struck by his vehicle. The teen and his two passengers were not injured, McPherson said.
The crash is being Investigated by crash reconstruction team.
